This month we're teaming up with the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus! Play it!, the open theatre training by D'haus Stadt:Kollektiv and Theaterpädagogik, is going international. For one afternoon it runs entirely in English, together with STAGED!, Düsseldorf's English-speaking performing arts community.
In four hours, we go from a blank page to a finished short play. We'll warm up with improv games, find ideas together, write scenes and dialogue, rehearse, and end by performing what we made for each other. This is devised theatre: there's no script to start from, and there are no fixed roles. There are no writers, directors or actors, because everyone helps with everything to bring the scenes to life.
No acting experience is needed, and beginners are especially welcome. Whether you've never been on a stage or you do theatre every week, you'll fit right in.
Line-up
Good to know
Do I need any acting experience?
No. The session is built for complete beginners, and every exercise starts simple.
Will there be an audience?
No, only the group. We perform for each other, so there's no pressure.
How is it different from the Sunday Open Sessions?
Bigger, better and more through!
What should I bring or wear?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, and bring water. Please also bring a pen!
Where exactly is it?
It's at Central, the D'haus venue at Worringer Straße 140, right by Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof. We're in the room called "Brücke". Please note that this is not our usual venue.
What if I can't make it after booking?
Please cancel or pass your ticket on, because places are limited and there's usually a waitlist.
